A world first study of penises across the globe provides new insights into what is considered “normal”.

The research, which included more than 15,500 penises, is intended to reassure men who may believe the size of their penis is inadequate.

It found the average length of a flaccid penis was 9.16 cm, the average length of a flaccid stretched penis was 13.24 cm, and the average length of an erect penis was 13.12 cm, the UK researchers reported in BJU International.

The researchers saw no differences in size between ethnicities and no relationship was found between penis size and BMI, finger length, or foot size.

The numbers should help reassure the large majority of men that the size of their penis is in the normal range, the researchers said.
