Rheumatologist recognised in the 2020 Australia Day honours

Prof Buchbinder

Victorian rheumatologist Professor Rachelle Buchbinder has been recognised in the 2020 Australia Day honours with an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for distinguished service to medical education in the fields of epidemiology and rheumatology, and to professional associations.

A professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Monash University, since 2007, Professor Buchbinder was  also Founding Director, Monash Department of Clinical Epidemiology, Cabrini Institute, Cabrini Health.

Her AO citation also notes that she is a former President of the  Australian Rheumatology Association (ARA) and Chair of the Management Committee of the  ARA Database (ARAD). Professor Buchbinder is Coordinating Editor of the Cochrane Musculoskeletal group and a  Founding Member of the Australia & New Zealand Musculoskeletal (ANZMUSC) Clinical Trial Network, of which she is current Chair of the Steering Group.
