Lung cancer number one cause of death in older women

Lung cancer is the leading cause of death in women aged 65-74, the latest data on deaths in Australia shows.

The statistics from the Australian Institute for Health and Welfare ranked COPD as the fourth cause of death for women in the same age group.

The statistics revealed a slightly different story for men. Lung cancer was the second leading cause of death for men between 45 to 84 years of age.

Whereas COPD was the third underlying cause of death for men aged 65 to 74, the figures showed.
