Podcast: COVID-19 and the rise in substandard research


The spread of COVID-19 and its rapid transition into a global pandemic has led researchers to search for treatments and vaccines in earnest – but the rush to publish more data quickly comes at a price that could have implications for clinicians and patients, says medical ethicist Adjunct Professor Katrina Bramstedt from Bond University in Queensland and Secretary General at Luxembourg Agency for Research Integrity (LARI).

With a string of papers retracted or being called into question amid a surge in submissions to pre-print servers where fewer quality checks are made Dr Bramstedt speaks to the limbic about the impact of substandard research during the COVID-19 pandemic.
