A person’s risk of developing type 2 diabetes may be influenced by their blood type, a study of more than 80,000 women reveals. People with the O blood type had a lower risk, while ABO blood groups had a higher risk, the French researchers reported in Diabetologia. Compared with women with O type blood, women with B+ type blood had a 35% increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes. The reasons behind the link were unknown but could be related to the ABO link to endothelial or inflammation markers.
