They say there’s an app for everything, well now there’s one that can predict the odds of how likely your plane is to crash. Am I going down? works by selecting the departure airport, the destination airport, the airline, and the aircraft type and outputs a probability of your plane crashing.

Developed by London based Vanilla-Pixel the app uses real flight statistics to analyse flight safety. It’s creator Nic Johns told the UK’s Daily Mail that its aim is to calm the nerves of those who are fearful of flying. As a typical example, flying on a British Airways 747-400 from London to New York has a one in nine million chance of crashing… not quite as long odds as winning the National Lottery, but not far off,’ he said.
