Respiratory physicians have plenty to look forward to on the conference agenda in 2025, with a bumper crop of local and international meetings alongside must-see events from the limbic on the calendar.

‘Respiratory health around the globe’ is the umbrella theme of this year’s ERS Congress, central strands of which include the global burden of disease from infancy to the elderly; challenges in respiratory health worldwide; and global solutions to improve respiratory health.

The congress kicks off in September in Amsterdam.

According to the ERS, the program will cover the latest advances in research and clinical practice across a wide range of topics, including respiratory clinical care and physiology, airways diseases, infections and thoracic oncology.

Across the pond, ATS 2025 – taking place in San Francisco this May – promises the latest information on “clinical, basic, and translational science in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine”.

Closer to home, TSANZSRS 2025 – the annual scientific meeting for leaders in lung health and respiratory science – will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre from 21 – 25 March.

The theme for the TSANZ meeting is: Sustainable advances in Lung Health in a Changing Climate. The theme for the ANZSRS meeting is: Lung function – unravelling the mysteries.

The program is already available online [link here].

Lung Foundation Australia will host its 10th Australian Lung Cancer Conference in Adelaide in late February, which is the country’s largest multi-disciplinary lung cancer conference. The meeting will include experts from around the world speaking about the highly anticipated National Lung Cancer Screening program.

The conference has positioned itself as a healthcare professional’s essential guide to the new program as well as an opportunity to speak to industry experts about their queries and concerns.

The three-day meeting will also cover topics such as smoking cessation, advances in treatment and survivorship care with the full program available on the conference website.

The Australasian Sleep Association ASM – Sleep Downunder 2025 –  will return to Adelaide in October with what the association says will be a few surprises, some fresh new ideas and some optional extras.

In the UK, the 7th Forum on Respiratory Tract Infections will offer respiratory physicians a varied program spanning traditional topics such as pneumonia and chronic lung infections alongside new themes such as novel treatment approaches and molecular diagnostics.

“With breakthroughs in treatment, diagnostics, and vaccinology reshaping the landscape of respiratory infections, the Forum will provide an inspiring environment to explore these advances and build future collaborations,” noted Conference Chair Professor James Chalmers in the preliminary program.

Meanwhile, the limbic will be hosting a series of expert-led webinars throughout the year, which will include highlights of potentially practice-changing research on show at both ERS and ATS Congresses.

As always, our journalists based throughout Australia and overseas will provide coverage of the sector’s key events throughout the year.
