The American Academy of Neurology (AAN) has launched a new peer-reviewed journal, Neurology Open Access.

The online publication will cover original research, reviews, case reports and study protocols across all areas of neurology and clinical neuroscience.

The journal will be published four times a year, with the first issue due to be launched at the AAN’s annual meeting in April.

Dr Amy Kunchok, a neurologist at the Cleveland Clinic, is the journal’s inaugural Editor.

She previously sat on the editorial boards of the AAN journals Neurology and Neurology Neuroimmunology & Neuroinflammation.

“Neurology Open Access is an open access peer-reviewed online journal whose mission is to publish high-quality, peer-reviewed original articles that advance patient care for people with neurologic disorders,” according to a special editorial led by Dr Kunchok, published in Neurology [link here].

“We believe that it will provide a valuable resource to the neurology community as a comprehensive and dynamic platform for novel clinical research, innovative methodologies, and insights that influence patient care”.

Neurology Open Access is currently accepting direct submissions.

New articles will be published online as soon as they are accepted and will be free to access from anywhere in the world.

The move expands the AAN’s range of journals, which includes its flagship Neurology and four subspecialty journals.
