Photos: Jumping Japanese business men

6 Apr 2015

Tokyo-based photographer Yuki Aoyama has set out to challenge the stereotypical image of the business man in the dark coloured suit and tie.  As part of a 10-year project to document Japan’s office workers Aoyama captures Japanese businessmen leaping with joy next to their daughters.

“Salarymen are very common ‘creatures’ or ‘figures’ in my country, who do not seem  to have any original personality, [due to] the same or similar colors of suits and shoes,” says Aoyama in an interview with Quartz. “I wanted to bring out their hidden individuality by making them jump.”
