Only a minority of gout patients are getting guideline recommended treatment. The average time from diagnosis to treatment with urate lowering therapy was 5 months, the JAMA study of 52,164 patients with gout found. The researchers from Taiwan say the results support giving information on urate lowering treatment to patients as soon as they are diagnosed.
