Newcastle based Gastroenterologist Professor Nick Talley has been appointed editor of the Medical Journal of Australia.

He will step down from his position as co-editor-in-chief of the journal Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics to take up the position at the beginning of December.

Talley takes the reigns following Public Health expert Stephen Leeder’s controversial ousting earlier this year following the journal’s decision to outsource production of the journal to international publishing company Elsevier.
