We still don’t know whether surgery for knee cap dislocation is better than non-surgical management, an updated Cochrane review says.
The review of six studies found that while there is some evidence to support surgical over non-surgical management of knee cap dislocation in the short term, the quality of evidence is very low because of the high risk of bias and the imprecision in the effect estimates.
More studies were needed, particularly on adverse effects of surgery, the authors said.
