Rheumatologists have joined with a GP and pharmacist to present a public webinar that will promote optimum use of methotrexate in rheumatoid arthritis.

Taking the form of a web-based interdisciplinary discussion on 12 April, the NPS MedicineWise webinar will cover the early diagnosis and treatment of RA, and the importance of timely initiation of the disease modifying drug.

Organised in conjunction with the Australian Rheumatology Association, participants include former ARA president Dr Mona Marabani, visiting senior specialist in medicine and rheumatology at Canterbury Hospital, Sydney. She will be joined by Dr David Liew a consultant rheumatologist and clinical pharmacology fellow at Austin Health, Melbourne. Melbourne GP Associate Professor Morton Rawlin will provide a primary care perspective, and Mr Jarrod McMaugh will speak on the community pharmacy role.

Other themes covered by the webinar will include dispelling myths about methotrexate, counselling to improve persistence with treatment and clarity on the roles of different health professional.

Registrations for the webinar, which will be held on 7pm 12 April, are now open at the NPS MedicineWise site.
