The Lancet has launched  a new specialty journal The Lancet Rheumatology  as an online monthly title “committed to publishing content relevant to rheumatology specialists worldwide”.

The UK-based journal joins the Lancet’s range of other speciality publications, and according to the publisher its content will include clinical research, expert reviews and commentary relating to rheumatic diseases, including arthritic, musculoskeletal, and connective tissue diseases, as well as disorders of the immune system.

Editor-in-Chief Dr Heather Van Epps (PhD) has a background in immunology and worked in medical publishing for more than a decade before joining The Lancet group, serving as Deputy Editor for The Lancet Gastroenterology & Hepatology before becoming the inaugural Editor-in-Chief for The Lancet Rheumatology.

She says The Lancet Rheumatology will also publish high-quality human translational studies that are supported by robust clinical data, with priority given to studies that identify potential new therapeutic targets, advance efforts toward precision medicine, or have the potential to directly inform future clinical trials.

The editorial board includes Professor Nicola Dalbeth, rheumatologist and professor of medicine at the University of Auckland.
