Lawyers are calling for people to come forward if they purchased any of the four Nurofen products that claimed to target specific pain types.

Under a class action led by Bannister Law people who bought Nurofen Migraine Pain, Nurofen Tension Headache, Nurofen Period Pain and Nurofen back pain between 1 January 2011 and 31 December 2015 may be able to claim compensation against makers Reckit and Benkiser.

Late last year the Federal Court ruled the company engaged, or was likely to have engaged, in misleading or deceptive conduct by selling and marketing products within the Nurofen Specific Pain Range despite each product containing exactly the same ingredient ibuprofen lysine 342mg.

Bannister Law says their claim is for a full refund of the Nurofen specific pain product that the consumer purchased for their particular pain.

“We believe that the consumer would not have purchased the product if they had known that it was not more effective on targeting pain than any of the other Nurofen Specific Pain products,” the company said.
