Time quitting with menstrual cycle

Women may have a better chance of quitting smoking if they time it with their monthly cycle, research suggests. According to the small pilot study by neuroscientists uncontrollable urges to smoke are stronger at the beginning of the follicular phase that begins after menstruation. A greater knowledge of the neurobiological mechanisms governing addiction may help target treatment according to the smokers profile, said lead author Professor Adrianna Mendrek from the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Montreal.
