President Professor Carlos Robalo Cordeiro has been sworn in as the new President of the European Respiratory Society (ERS).

Professor Cordeiro, who has held many prior roles at the ERS such as Group Chair and Group Secretary, has now officially taken the reins from Professor Marc Humbert and will lead the Society during the 2022/2023 period.

Key priority topics for his tenure include the environment and climate change, interstitial lung disease, the International Respiratory Coalition initiative, expanding the ERS Respiratory Channel, the TB Task Force; and the ERS Congress 2023 in Milan, he said.

Dr Silke Ryan has been named as ERS Vice President for 2022/2023, which means that she will successively become ERS President Elect and then ERS President for 2024–2025.

Key positions on the ERS Executive Committee include: Professor Barbara Hoffman as Advocacy Committee Chair Elect; Professor Hilary Pinnock as Education Committee Chair Elect; Dr Sara Tomassetti as Publications Committee Chair Elect; and Dr Sara Cuevas Ocaña as Early Career Member Committee Chair.
