Paris bans every second car

Last week French authorities only allowed people with odd-numbered license plates to drive into the centre of Paris after pollution readings hit a record high. One hundred police checkpoints were set up to ensure the ban was properly enforced, imposing on-the-spot fines of €22 for people attempting to drive their even-number plated cars into the big smoke.
