MOGA has postponed its Annual Scientific Meeting for 2020 that was due to be held in Perth in August, because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The Medical Oncology Group of Australia meeting with the theme Future of Oncology – Improving Outcomes through Innovation was scheduled for 12-14 August 2020 at the Perth Convention Centre.

But in a notice to members, MOGA said that holding meeting was impractical given the restrictions on travel and social distancing imposed by the COVID-19 situation.

“We are currently negotiating with the event suppliers and are hoping to reschedule the event for August 2021,” said the statement from convenor Dr Andrew Dean and MOGA Chair Dr Prunella Blinman.

“MOGA will update you regarding our future plans once these have been finalised.”

Other oncology meetings to be cancelled include the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) 2020 meeting scheduled for May in Chicago and the the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) that was due to take place April 24–29 in San Diego.
