MS Australia has paid tribute to Victorian neurologist Dr Leslie Sedal, for his work specialising in multiple sclerosis.

De Sedal who on 16 November died at the age of 75, established the neuro-immunology clinic at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, where he continued to practice until March 2017.

According to MS Australia, Dr Sedal devoted his professional life to the care of his patients with MS.

“Dr Sedal promoted the work of the state MS organisations in providing services and support to people living with MS at every opportunity and he was always willing to provide advice and assistance to staff,” it said in a statement.

After graduating from Melbourne University and training in London, Dr Sedal specialised in the treatment of MS, undertaking clinical MS research and authoring papers and book chapters on MS.

In 2007, he was the recipient of the John Studdy Award, Multiple Sclerosis Australia’s most prestigious Award.

“Dr Sedal remains highly regarded nationally and internationally for his work in advancing the knowledge of MS and he is fondly remembered for his commitment to the many patients with MS that he cared for, their families, carers and friends,” MS Australia said.
