ANZAN has announced the cancellation of its 2020 Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM), that had been scheduled to take place on  18-22 May, in Melbourne.

In a statement to members, ANZAN President Dr Pamela McCombe said the ANZAN Council had no choice but to cancel the event given the rapidly changing situation with COVID-19.

“The ANZAN Executive, Acting Chair of the Scientific Program Committee and Seed Events provided ANZAN Council with their unanimous recommendation that the 2020 ASM should be cancelled,” she said.

ANZAN will refund all conference registration fees paid to date.

“On behalf of Council I want to thank Mark Slee, Kaitlyn Parratt, and all members of ANZAN’s Scientific Program Committee, for the work they have done to prepare an exceptional program and speakers for the meeting,” she said.

“I would also like to thank our sponsors for their understanding and support in these uncertain times.”

Dr McCombe said ANZAN is aiming to reschedule the meeting for May 2021, ideally in Melbourne.

“Arrangements are being made to hold the ANZAN Annual General Meeting via an online platform and we will provide details as soon as they are finalised,” she said.
