Former Test cricketer Max ‘Tangles’ Walker died of myeloma after a long battle with the blood cancer.

It was previously reported in the media that the 68-year-old bowler and author died from melanoma.

In 2013 Walker underwent chemotherapy and an  autologous stem cell transplant at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

Further treatment due to take place in June this year did not eventuate “due to the highly aggressive nature of Max’s cancer,” the Walker family said.

According to an everydayhero donation page his dearest wish was for people to donate towards the research of multiple myeloma and cancer in lieu of flowers or personal tributes.

The page is currently sitting at almost $6k in donations, with a goal of $15k.
