Cancer Australia has launched a new interactive website that brings together national data from several leading agencies to help inform future cancer control efforts.

The National Cancer Control Indicators (NCCI) website comprises a set of indicators across the continuum of cancer care – prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, psychosocial care, research and outcomes.

Data is sourced from agencies including the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) and the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), and can be filtered by tumour type and categories such as population group, gender, age and socioeconomic status.

Users can access visual representations of population-based data on each indicator through interactive charts.

Cancer Australia CEO Dr Helen Zorbas said the initiative was designed to help inform future directions in cancer research, policy and clinical care.

“NCCI is a unique, dynamic national resource that, for the first time, brings together trusted data to better illuminate Australia’s cancer landscape and inform where our efforts can be best placed.”

“It forms a bridge between information and outcomes, enabling users to see interconnections and relationships across cancer control, to monitor trends and benchmark internationally.”

However NCCI also provides an authoritative source of information for people affected by cancer and the broader community.
