The American Society of Hematology has launched a new journal to complement Blood.

Blood Advances™ is open access and will publish research deemed to be either ‘novel’ or definitive’.

Founding editor-in-chief Robert S. Negrin, MD, a professor of medicine at Stanford University says the new journal will allow ASH to address the needs of its members by offering  an expanded array of topics that are not comprehensively served by any other journal.

“Our innovative online platform will serve as an incubator to test novel methods of communication and interaction with our community,” he said.

Blood Advances will announce a call for papers during the summer of 2016, and the first issue will launch at the 58th ASH Annual Meeting in San Diego, December 3-6, 2016.
