The Australasian Leukaemia & Lymphoma Group (ALLG) will hold its annual conference this month as a virtual meeting after the face-to-face event scheduled to take place in Melboune was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The organisers say the ALLG Virtual Scientific Meeting will be held online throughout the week of Monday 11 May 11 to Friday 16 May.

According to the ALLG organisers, the revised meeting agenda and expended time format will deliver a series of one and half to two-hour working party sessions scheduled throughout the week.

As well as covering research presentations, the meeting will also include a special webcast program about resilience during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Conducting the ALLG Scientific Meeting in a virtual format will, most importantly, enable us to continue important discussions about the care of patients involved in clinical trials while avoiding face-to-face interactions,” ALLG says.

“We are working closely with the Working Party Chairs to finalise the new virtual meeting program, which will be circulated in due course.”

Pre-recorded video presentations from local speakers and government officials are also being considered.
