The government is seeking stakeholder input into a biosimilar campaign designed to improve awareness and confidence in biosimilars.

The implementation framework  outlines the scope of the project that will see $20 million invested over 2015-18 for awareness activities for both health professionals and consumers.

According to a PBS statement announcing the consultation feedback will be used to inform the longer term development and implementation of the awareness project.

Any feedback will also be provided to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee (PBAC), to support the committee’s current considerations around biosimilar medicines.

“This represents an important step for consultation on this project. It is expected that there will be further opportunities for consultation and feedback over the term of the project,” it said.
