GESA has adopted the ClinTrial Refer app which it says will help clinicians and patients gain access to trials of new treatments for gastrointestinal and liver diseases.

The GESA-ClinTrial Refer App provides up-to date information to referring doctors and patients about relevant clinical trials including details about study design, inclusion and exclusion criteria, participating sites and who to contact.

GESA president Associate Professor Simone Strasser said in a statement that the Society was excited to be active on a platform that helps connect patients, clinicians and clinical trial units.

“The opportunity to participate in a clinical trial offers Australian patients access to innovative and world class treatments and care years before such treatments are available through usual channels,” she said.

“Clinical trials offer the potential for significant benefit to participants, and the attentive care and close monitoring by the clinical trial team provides many patients a very positive experience through their disease journey.”

The GESA-ClinTrial Refer app currently hosts 65 trials including those open to patients with IBD, cancer, hepatitis B and C, NASH, primary biliary cholangitis and Wilson disease.

Download the ClinTrial Refer app from the App Store or Google Play and set GESA-ClinTrial Refer as your primary app.
