In this episode the limbic speaks to endocrinologist Professor David O’Neal from St Vincent’s hospital in Melbourne about new Australian research that investigates glycaemic and psychosocial outcomes with  a hybrid closed-loop (HCL) insulin delivery system in type 1 diabetes compared to manual insulin dosing and self-monitoring of blood glucose – the standard of care for many Australian adults.

While results of the RCT show use of the HCL system delivers better glycaemic outcomes, across all study outcomes, Professor O’Neal tells the limbic the trial is more than an investigation of the technology itself – it’s an examination of a model of care that should support it.
