Swedish researchers have poured cold water over a theory that having a dog can reduce the likelihood of type 1 diabetes in childhood.
The study published in JAMA Pediatrics involving the records of more than 840,000 children found having a dog did not reduce the the likelihood of diabetes, no matter what the size or breed.
