There is an increased risk of specific cancers among people with type 1 and 2 diabetes an Australian led study reports. People with type 1 diabetes had more cancer of the pancreas, liver, oesophagus, colorectal, and in females only, stomach, thyroid, brain, and lung. Whereas people with type 2 diabetes had more site-specific cancers, particularly liver and pancreatic cancer. Screening for cancers in diabetic patients is important, the researchers suggest.
