HF treatment: Closing the gap between GDMT and real-world practice

Heart failure

12 Aug 2021

Despite data showing that guidelines-directed medical therapy for heart failure with reduced ejection fraction reduces morbidity and mortality, few patients are on optimal therapy and at the recommended doses.

In this podcast, Australian heart failure experts Professor Andrew Sindone and Professor Liza Thomas are joined by Professor James Januzzi from the United States to discuss ways to optimise therapy in heart failure and how to move towards earlier, more aggressive treatment.

Professor Sindone and Professor Thomas are members of the National Heart Foundation and Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand Heart Failure Guidelines Working Group and Professor James Januzzi is a lead member of the writing committee of the 2021 update to the American College of Cardiology Expert Consensus Decision Pathway for Optimization of Heart Failure Treatment.
