These groups are made for walking

and that’s just what they do, one of these days these groups are gonna make you… healthier.  Okay, our rhyming could be better, but we were just trying to grab your attention. An analysis of the evidence in this week’s British Journal of Sports Medicine finds that joining a walking group is the easiest way boost overall health.

The analysis of 42 studies involving people with a range of chronic conditions like arthritis, dementia, diabetes, fibromyalgia, obesity/overweight, mental health issues, and Parkinson’s disease found that people who joined a walking group had statistically significant reductions in blood pressure, resting heart rate, body fat, weight, and total cholesterol.
