The AIHW website has added JIA and osteoporosis to its list of musculoskeletal conditions it monitors. The latest snapshot data on the conditions highlights that:
- 1 in 1,000 children aged between o-15 have JIA;
- 13 times more biologics were prescribed for juvenile arthritis in 2013–14, compared with 2004–05;
- Five times more women aged 50 or over have osteoporosis or osteopenia compared to men; and
- The rate of hospitalisation for minimal trauma fracture for women aged 50 or over was 290 per 100,000 people compared with men (162 per 100,000).
