Diet advice doesn’t translate to lower urate

Giving dietary advice to gout patients does not make a difference to their urate levels, a randomised trial shows. Patients on urate lowering therapy who received dietary education did not have lower urate levels at six months compared to a control group of similar patients. This was despite making changes to their diets, the rheumatologists from Westmead and Royal Price Alfred in Sydney reported in the Internal Medicine Journal.
